Daniel Bertomeu

Daniel (2009) began his piano studies at the age of six at the Conservatori Professional de Música El Musical de Bellaterra under the guidance of Daniel Ligorio, where he also studied composition. He furthered his piano training at the Friedrich Gulda School of Music in Vienna and is currently studying with Philippe Raskin at the Institut Royal Supérieur de Musique et de Pédagogie in Namur.

He has won numerous national and international piano competitions in his age category, including First Prize at the César Franck International Piano Competition (Belgium), First Prize at the MozArte International Piano Competition Aachen (Germany), First Prize at the Santa Cecilia International Piano Competition Junior in Porto (Portugal), First Prize and the Award for Best Performance of Spanish Music at the Concurso Internacional Compositores de España, First Prize at the María Herrero International Piano Competition in Granada in both the children’s and youth categories, as well as the Hotchkiss School Connecticut Special Prize. He also received the Gold Hands Award at the Carles & Sofia International Piano Competition, together with awards for the best performances of works by Mompou, Bach, and Rachmaninoff. Other distinctions include Absolute First Prize at the José Porta International Piano Competition, First Prize at the Diputación de Albacete National Piano Competition, First Prize at the BBVA Individual Talent Competition of Catalonia, and First Prize at the 4th Young Soloists Competition of the URV Symphony Orchestra, among others.

He has performed in concerts and recitals at prestigious venues including Carnegie Hall (Weill Recital Hall, New York), Concertgebouw Brugge, BNP Paribas Fortis Kanselarij Auditorium (Brussels), Ehrbar Saal (Vienna), La Sucrerie (Wavre), Elfers Hall (Connecticut), the Bilbao Philharmonic Society, the Hammerklavier Piano Series (Girona), the Basílica de Santa María de Portugalete, the Crypt of the Ermita de Cambrils, the 41st Festival de Música Antigua de Zumarraga, the Bilbao Choral Society, the Royal Monastery of Pedralbes in Barcelona, Auditori Josep Viader (Girona), Auditori LaFACT (Terrassa), the 11th Maria Vilardell Viñas Young Talents Festival of Juventudes Musicales de Moià, and the Royal Catalan Academy of Fine Arts of Sant Jordi, among others.

He has attended masterclasses with renowned musicians including Arcadi Volodos, Leonel Morales, Jean-Claude Vanden Eynden, Álvaro Teixeira Lopes, Boaz Sharon, Vincenzo Balzani, Antonio Di Cristofano, Oxana Yablonskaya, Fabio & Gisele Witkowski, Judith Jáuregui, Enrique Bagaría, Alba Ventura, María Jesús Crespo, and Michel Bourdoncle, among others.
